Sunny days in Berlin – GoodBerry partners gather for their final meeting

A few weeks before the project end, the GoodBerry consortium came together for its final meeting in Berlin, Germany. From February 4-5, 34 participants from 17 partner institutions, as well as one external member of the Scientific Advisory Board gathered at the Kaiserin-Friedrich-Haus in the vibrant center of Berlin. They experienced two inspiring days filled with fruitful discussions mainly focused on the project status and the dissemination and exploitation strategy of the results.

The work package leaders gave an overview on the work performed and results generated in their respective WPs. Communication measures and the exploitation strategy were discussed in the plenary. The presentations showed that a tremendous data set has been generated by the multiple field experiments, phenotypic, genotypic and sensory analysis performed during GoodBerry. This unique data set reveals unprecedented knowledge about the influence of genotype, environment and management practices on yield potential, fruit quality and disease management of the 3 crops in focus (strawberry, raspberry and black currant). As an example, GoodBerry has contributed to the current revolution of the berry industry related to strawberry disease management with UV-C robots.

At the end of the final meeting, the GoodBerry consortium members were proud to look back on four successful years of collaboration and left with ideas for further projects at the back of their minds. The berry industry is evolving fast to face many challenges and the GoodBerry partners did and will go on delivering answers and tools to support its competitiveness!
